Melbourne is not on the list!

I was looking for a Moleskine City Notebook of Melbourne so that I could document all the places I love in Melbourne before I leave – and apparently I have thought too much of Melbourne as a city important enough for Moleskine to publish a city notebook…

Interestingly, neither is Sydney important enough or any cities on the southern hemisphere..!

But I thought I am pretty good at going to important cities :P

  • Amsterdam
  • Athens
  • Atlanta
  • Barcelona
  • Beijing
  • Berlin
  • Boston
  • Bruxelles
  • Chicago – technically yes, but I never got out of the airport.
  • Copenhagen
  • Dublin
  • Florence
  • Frankfurt
  • Hamburg – if the train station counts, than yes.
  • Hong Kong
  • Istanbul
  • Kyoto
  • Las Vegas
  • Leipzig – same as Hamburg.
  • Lisbon
  • London
  • Los Angeles
  • Madrid
  • Miami
  • Milan
  • Montreal
  • Moscow
  • Munich
  • New York
  • Paris
  • Philadelphia
  • Prague
  • Rome
  • Saint Petersburg
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle – same as Chicago.
  • Stockholm
  • Tokyo – same as Seattle.
  • Toronto
  • Turin
  • Vancouver
  • Venice
  • Vienna
  • Washington
  • Zurich
  • And yeah, I know, I know, Moleskine is an overpriced piece of crap.

As a matter of fact, I do love Helsinki Vantaa Airport even though it was just a brief encounter :)

Tag: Fifteen movies that will always stick with you

So, I have been told I have been quite inactive on the blogging front… but Kaho happened to tag me, so I am going to take this opportunity to rekindle what I used to love, despite how much I am behind with uni and thesis…

But I shouldn’t waste any of your precious time with my dull, boring life, maybe except the evenings of this week, and here is the list:

    1. I am Sam – this isn’t a movie I’ll watch over and over again mainly because of the emotional roller coaster that it will take me through every time I watch it. But I really love the movie.
    2. Love Actually – there is just something about this movie, the happiness, the love… to me, it’s the movie to watch during the holidays.
    3. Prestige – I just cannot get over how brilliant this movie is.
    4. Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain – it’s the music that get me hooked, not that its cinematography isn’t brilliant, but I have its soundtrack on my iTunes, and every time I listen to it, it’s as though I am back on the streets in Paris, strolling past the aroma of Café au lait and croissant in Montmartre.
    5. Monster Inc. – I simply love the novelty of the story and I will never get tired of watching the millions of colours in the film.
    6. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    7. Legally Blonde – it makes Harvard seems to be closer somehow…lol
    8. Totoro

And… then I realise, 15 movies that always stick with you are really hard to name – Kaho, how did you do that?!?!?!

    Breathe

    不知是巧合還是其他原因,我itunes music library裡所有以breathe為歌名的歌好都很好聽。share其中三首吧:

    Breathe in – Frou Frou

I read you and God I’m good at it I’m so spot on
Chord shapes in air go press that dissonance if you dare
And you breathing in finesse an innocent
    From her partying

And I’m high enough from all the waiting
To ride a wave on your inhaling
And I’m high enough from all the waiting
To ride a wave on your inhaling
    ‘Cause I love you no?
Can’t help but love, you know…

    Breathe – Michelle Branch

    Michelle Branch – Breathe

    Well it’s all so overrated
In not saying how you feel
So you end up watching chances fade
    And wondering what’s real

And I Give you just a little time
    I, Wonder if you realize
I’ve been waiting till I see it in your eyes

    If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
    I’ll know everything is alright
    Breathe,
    Every little piece of me
    You’ll see
    Everything is alright
    If I just breathe
    Breathe

So I whisper in the dark,
    Hoping you hear me
    Do you hear me?

Breathe in Breathe out – Anna Nalick

Anna Nalick – Breathe (2AM)Funny video clips are a click away

2 AM and she calls me ’cause I’m still awake,
can you help me unravel my latest mistake,
I don’t love him, winter just wasn’t my season
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to critisize,
hypocrites, you’re all here for the very same reason

‘Cause you can’t jump the track,we’re like cars on a cable
and life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button girl,
So cradle your head in you hands
    And breathe, just breathe,
    Woah breathe, just breathe

May he turn 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist,
Ain’t been sober, since maybe October of last year.
Here in town you can tell he’s been down for a while,
But my God it’s so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him, maybe I’ll just sing about it.

Cause you can’t jump the track, we’re like cars on a cable,
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
    And breathe, just breathe,
    Woah breathe, just breahte

There’s a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout
But you’re just as far in as you’ll ever be out
These mistakes you’ve made, you’ll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

2 AM and I’m still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, its no longer
inside of me, threatening the life they belong to
And i feel like I’m naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you’ll use them, however you want to

Cause you can’t jump the track, we’re like cars on a cable,
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
    Sing it if you understand.
    and breathe, just breathe
    woah breathe, just breathe,
    oh breathe, just breathe.

So Far From You – Brett Dennen

    Addicted to its guitar opening.

Crows ravaging a field of wheat
    Stars jealous of the moon
    Scarecrows know their own defeat
Envy and the heart that it consumes

    Today I walked without you
Like an empty bottle drifting out to sea
I would change it I knew how to
But it don’t come that easily

If my heart wasn’t such a jungle
Maybe you wouldn’t feel so alone
If your her heart wasn’t such and ocean
    I wouldn’t sink like a stone

If you weren’t so far from me
I could hold you while you’re sleeping
    And hear you breathing softly
And be there when you’re waking

Phone calls could not complete us
    Letters cannot replace
Miles and miles and miles between us
    Another time another place

I have yet to meet another
    Who burns bright as you
I’m not looking for any other
    I only want you

If my heart wasn’t such a jungle
Maybe you wouldn’t feel so alone
If your her heart wasn’t such and ocean
    I wouldn’t sink like a stone

    Be.you.tiful

    The Rescues

I have been falling for the Rescues lately. Okay, so Grey’s Anatomy was the reason that I know them, but who cares, I’ve got good music!

I am particularly impressed by their range of music. In their album Crazy Ever After, you can find some very different music. From vocal such as My Heart with you to pop-y tunes like Break Me Out:

When music and reality meets at the age of GFC

    A very good read:

This Land – At an Age for Music and Dreams, Real Life Intrudes – NYTimes.com

A story of an 18 year old high school girl:

She once explored the idea of going away to college to become a music teacher. But it just didn’t seem practical: spending four years studying the theory of music, which doesn’t interest her, while here in Newark, the school system is constantly adapting to real and threatened cuts.

Music programs always seem among the first to go, she says. No job security in Tchaikovsky.

So she is maintaining high grades, playing in the orchestra, working 35 hours a week as a Sonic Drive-In carhop, paying $345 a month for the small apartment she shares with an unemployed boyfriend — and planning to study nursing for two years at a technical college in Newark.

“Everybody gets sick,” she says, plotting her future.

A story of a music teacher:

When she struggles to pay for repairs to instruments, many of which are long-ago hand-me-downs from another school district, she recalls her 15 years as the music director in Bexley, a more affluent city where her budget was nowhere near as tight. She vividly remembers the Bexley student who celebrated graduation by smashing a $10,000 violin — his spare.

She cried then; it hurts more now.
