The 22nd celebration
I blame the gloomy thoughts on the gloomy weather on the first of May which, in case you did not know, was raining cats and dogs. Anyway, on the very first birthday that I spent out of the Asia-Pacific region, I finally decided to have a barbie at Delphi instead of having an over-indulgence of champagne and strawberries at Västra Hamnen in Malmö as originally planned. (Sorry Yat, I know you were really looking forward to that. But I guess the current arrangement will make everyone’s wallet a little bit happier.) Initially I was quite worried about the weather because the forecast said there will be 20% chance for precipitation when I checked it yesterday. But the sky started to clear up and sun started to show a little bit more since four. So there, I had a 22 year record of good weather on my birthday! (As far as I can remember, and, only at where I was located.)
Other than my very close friends in Lund, I also had the pleasure to meet many new friends and also reacquainted with some people whom I have met at parties sometimes ago. I am sorry that I might not be able to give you the full attention that I would have loved to but parties like that just get quite chaotic at the end, especially when a bunch of people in their twenties decided they want to play hide-and-seek.
Anyway, here are a few special moments that I would really love to share with you all:
Present from Peter, Yvonne, Candy, Konrad, Kaho (who was absent!!!!), Victor, Thierry, and Rebecca. Thank you so much for such a thoughtful gift. I love it a lot, a lot. I was so touched when I was browsing through Konrad’s album which showed you guys working on the gift!
My birthday cake is an Apfelkuchen baked by Mari. I am really glad that you guys finally pulled it off, even with the great help from Mari. It’s so nice to finally try some different cake, not to mention it’s actually my favourite kind! And I blew out the candles in one shot! Thanks Mari :) and also for the Swiss Chokolade!
Meet my new friends! The Singaporean grill has soo many good stuff on it. I even managed to steal some chicken wings and sweet potatoes off their table. Heeheee, thanks guys for coming, I hope you had fun!
Yat’s here! Thanks for taking your precious time out from preparing the final critique and being the messenger of Martin and Jennie. And thanks for the ear-rings, they are beautiful :)
Here’s an example how small the world could be. Hanway is a friend of both mine and Yvonna’s! Thanks for the bottle of red and the card. We’ll try your raspberry drink some other time!
And even though we all have already entered our twenties, we are still a bunch of kids in our heart… hide-and-seeking in Delphi!
Weitung also came, thanks for the me-to-you chocolate! I hope you had a great time meeting some new people :)
I made everyone sang a birthday song to me in their native languages… and Fabio (who was late, but thanks for the choclate), I can’t believe you are camera-shy! I probably should have fed you more alcohol before that. And an incomplete Swedish version performed by Peter could be found here.
Not every one, but nearly there :)
For more visual treats from the celebration, please browse here, here and here. And I should never forget to thank Derek who just happened to visit Lund on my birthday, was the camera man of the night. You have no idea how easy it was finally not having to be responsible for the pictures. That said, if you think the pictures are not up to the usual standard or are extraordinary, please redirect your comments to him ;)
Lastly, I would love to thank the all of you no matter you were physically or spiritually presented: texts from Irene, Kaho and Therese, calls from Michelle and Yvonna, people who sent me tweets and left comments on my blog, 52 wall posts and messages on facebook, and a ton of ‘Happy birthday’s via MSN. I just felt so being loved. And to wrap this up, happy birthday to Jomay and light bulb too :)
