Currently Watching: Uptown Girls
Starring Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning there’s only one very simple reason i picked this movie - dakota is in it, and she’s fabulous. brittany murphy is okay, but i still have her as a “dumb blonde” image in my head. i’ve expected this movie to be a chick flick, but it turns out to be an extrodinary chick flick. it’s not very much a romantic comedy, but a story of two girls having similar experiences and guide each other through their lives. also, as described about the tag lines, it’s about two girls “[teaching] each other how to act their age”. this movie deserves 3 stars out of 5.

Ray (Fanning) is a 8 year old spoiled only child in her family, her dad is a vegetable and her mother doesn’t care about her. She has a little bit of OCD and a “little bit” of a neat freak, constantly fear of her immune system being crushed. Molly (Murphy) is a 22 year old girl who’s everybody’s star before her dad’s lawyer ran away with all the money her rock star parents left for her. To deal with the reality, she starts job hunting and happens to become Ray’s number google-th nanny. When they met, Molly taught Ray how to communicate with her dad, how to deal with her dad’s death and how to be a kid. In return, Ray taught Molly how to deal an adult relationship and responsibility.
