another natural disaster - Hurricane Katrina attacking New Orleans.
Reading the related news is just devastating. According to today’s Herald Sun, the Superdome is turning into hell, rather than being a shelter. there’s no food, poor ventilation, no water. to make it worse, raping and stealing actually happened in there. It’s even poorer than living in a jail. I guess that surprised a lot of people, like me, that this can happen in USA, the most “powerful” state in the world. Through this post, I do not only want to express my sympathy towards the victims, I contemplate why people behave that way - raptist and burgulars - weren’t people suppose to become united and overcome the disasters? Do they realise raping and stealing do not really help them, but will only make the others more miserable? Do they have no heart but at all? Moreover, isn’t this ironic few countries are approaching to US to offer help with the rescue and reconstruction? I mean, surely US might have been appeared to be so powerful that they don’t need anyone’s help, but apparently, that’s not the case. People are suffering in New Orleans and the US government is not doing much to help. There’s nothing to do with the evil politics, what we are losing in this incident are human lives. Although there’s nothing to do with politics, countries which are offering aids to USA are likely to gain a higher position, in terms of political context, why not to help? may all people in New Orleans be blessed. charity, hurricane, katrina, natural disaster, USA, politics, New Orleans
