Google Talk

Google Talk Just downloaded the Google Talk yesterday and finally have it test drive-d today [Call between Hong Kong and Melbourne]! hmmm… I say i will definitely ditch Skype with Google Talk (hell, i have already uninstalled it)! Here are several reasons:
1. I have already installed Google Desktop Search, Google Talk just fit into it perfectly. I do not need to open the application by myself everytime.
2. The file size of Google Talk is much smaller than Skype.
3. The connection of Google Talk * sounds * better than Skype.
4. It is associated with my Gmail Account so I need not to remember one more set of login id and password.
5. The user interface of Google Talk is much neater and lite-r than Skype’s.
6. I am a Google Fan.

However, I still see a rocky future of Google Talk. First of all, its biggest rivalry (probably MSN Messenger) has already accumulated a huge number of users throughout the past few years. Also, It’s hard to make them switch to Google Talk when it lacks almost everything that MSN Messenger provides. For example Video Conference, smileys, nudge, and a bunch of I-don’t-find-so-useful features. Moreover, the IM market is almost saturated, I may say Google releases Google Talk a bit late. Last but not least, Google Talk currently only supports users with Gmail account or users with US mobile number; and Gmail is not even open to public yet. This certainly halter a large number of eager-to-try users.
